Atis Bankas

Violin, Artistic Director

Atis Bankas studied at the School of the Arts for Gifted Children in Lithuania, the Lithuanian State Conservatory, and at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

He is in the Order of St. George, and won first prize at the International Violin Competition in Estonia.

Roles include, founder and Artistic Director of Music Niagara (MN), first violinist for the Gould String Quartet, teacher at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, and Toronto Symphony Orchestra musician, among others.

He has performed throughout the Soviet Union, Europe and North America, and for numerous music festivals.

Previous roles include Assistant Concertmaster of the Lithuanian Philharmonic Orchestra, founder and Artistic Director of the Muskoka Lakes Music Festival and the Windermere Music Festival, and teacher at the University of Toronto, among many others.
