Atis’s letter for the 19th season

Welcome to our 19th Season!

Atis Bankas

During this special season celebrating Canada’s sesquicentennial anniversary of Confederation, Music Niagara takes pride in our Canadian national treasures, such as Shaw Festival Artistic Director Emeritus, Christopher Newton, pianists Andre Laplante and Robert Silverman, and jazz legend Guido Basso. Emerging Canadian talent may be enjoyed at concerts featuring young virtuosos of the Music Niagara Performance Academy.

We present a wide variety of musical events that celebrate the music and musical heritage of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, the first four provinces to unite 150 years ago, as well as the indisputable contribution of our indigenous native peoples to Canada’s history, music and culture.

In the words of Plato, “Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, and life to everything.”

As always there is something for everyone, from classical music to jazz; from country to new musical creations. So much to enjoy! It’s a festival!

Yours truly,
