General Manager – Music Niagara Festival
The Music Niagara Festival located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada is pleased to invite applications and referrals for the position of General Manager.
The Music Niagara Festival is one of the largest Music Festivals in the Niagara region. Celebrating its 21st anniversary in 2019, Music Niagara is recognized for showcasing exceptional Canadian and International musicians performing across the musical spectrum – classical, jazz, choral, pop and country.
Led by Artistic Director Atis Bankas, the annual summer concert season runs for 4-6 weeks in July and August, offering around 30 concerts to residents of the Greater Niagara region and Greater Toronto area visitors, as well as other Canadian and international tourists visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake. Concerts are held in various historic venues, wineries and other unique settings. In addition, concurrent with the summer concerts, Music Niagara is committed to emerging talent through its Performance Academy and Young Virtuosos program that helps train and present these young musicians.
Throughout the year, the Music Niagara Festival presents a number of concerts including Remembrance Day and Christmas celebrations, and new in 2019, an inaugural season of Choral Fest will be presented in November.
The Music Niagara Festival strategic plan for 2021-2024 will soon be discussed, allowing the incoming General Manager the opportunity to help shape the future of the Music Niagara Festival.

The Position of General Manager, Music Niagara Festival:
Reporting to the Board of Directors and working collaboratively with Artistic Director Atis Bankas and members of the Board, the General Manager serves as the main business and administrative officer of the company leading and managing all aspects of the organization to ensure the achievement of its mission and vision.
Primary responsibilities include:
Working closely with the Board of Directors and Artistic Director to implement the strategic plan
Managing day-to-day operations and acting as lead and mentor to the Administrative Coordinator and summer students
Overseeing financial planning and control, including annual budget, monitoring and control of expenses and reporting to the Board
Overseeing all aspects of marketing, including print, radio, social media and website development to optimize earned revenue
Overseeing fundraising strategies and activities to achieve fundraising targets, and actively participating in grant submissions and reporting
Maintaining and developing strong donor relations, including all levels of government, corporate, foundations and individuals
Building Music Niagara Festival’s relevance within the community through expanding relationships with the Shaw, Chamber of Commerce, business and other not-for-profit companies
Actively participates on Committees of the Board which include Marketing, Fundraising, Performance Academy and Governance
Experience & Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, entrepreneurial and a collaborative leader who has a progressive track record in marketing, administrative and financial management, fundraising and audience development and who is interested in growing Music Niagara over several years.
College or university degree preferred but not essential and at least 5 years of management experience at a performing arts organization, or equivalent experience in business.
Excellent administrative, interpersonal and communication skills are required (both written and verbal). Strong computer proficiency is also required. Experience in managing financial budgets. Ability to work well during demanding festival schedule, including evenings and weekends. Interest in and knowledge of music, particularly a range of genres, is an asset.
