Presented in the unique historical venue of Mount Carmel Monastery’s chapel in Niagara Falls, coupled with Monastery Cellar’s winery, cellist Elinor Frey and harpsichordist Mark Edwards have been searching for the most beautiful Baroque cello music from Italy, the country where cello music first appeared. This exquisite duo will bring cello masterpieces to our stage.

Award winning Cellist Elinor Frey plays both period and modern instruments and is fascinated by the cello’s origins and the creative process of new music. Her recent release Berlin Sonatas with Lorenzo Ghielmi on fortepiano, was nominated for a Juno award for Best Classical CD, Solo & Chamber Music and won the 2015 Québec Opus Prize for Early Music CD of the year. Recognized for his captivating performances, Canadian harpsichordist and organist Mark Edwards is the first prizewinner in the 2012 Musica Antiqua Bruges International Harpsichord Competition. As an active chamber musician, he is the artistic director of Poiesis, he collaborates regularly with Les Boréades de Montréal and Les Délices.
