An Unforgettable 28th Season

As our 28th Season comes to a close and summer begins to wind down, we find ourselves reflecting on what an extraordinary season it has been.

From the beautiful voices of the Lithuanian Boys’ Choir Dagilėlis and our inspiring Young Virtuosos Series, to the extraordinary artistry of the three-time JUNO Award-winning Gryphon Trio, five sold-out performances and the launch of our exciting new Jazz Series, this summer was filled with unforgettable moments.

Our new Jazz Series celebrated Women in Jazz and brought an exciting new energy to the Festival. Alex Pangman, Canada’s Sweetheart of Swing, opened the series in style, and we concluded with a full house for Heather Bambrick & Friends featuring “Broadsway” — a wonderful way to close an unforgettable first season of jazz at Music Niagara.

We celebrated music in all its forms — from our moving Glory to Ukraine concert in June, to the soulful gospel sounds of Jeremiah Sparks, bringing his remarkable talent from the Shaw Festival stage to the Music Niagara stage, and the Toronto All-Star Big Band celebrating its remarkable 30th anniversary with us.

Our Pops Series brought energy, laughter and pure joy to our Festival Tent at Ironwood Cider House: the endlessly entertaining Quartetto Gelato; the step-dancing and fiddling Fitzgerald siblings; The Undercovers; the infectious Gypsy jazz of Club Django Toronto; and a Dueling Pianos finale that had the audience on its feet!

Throughout the summer, Music Niagara continued to bring exceptional live music to audiences at affordable prices in some of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s most beautiful settings — from our Festival Tent at Ironwood Cider House to Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery, beautiful historic churches and Spirit in Niagara Distillery. Classical, jazz, gospel, pops, choral music, emerging artists and Canadian favourites — there truly was something for everyone.

None of this happens without an extraordinary community behind us.

To our loyal supporters who have been with Music Niagara for many years, and to everyone who joined us for the very first time this summer: thank you. Every ticket purchased, every concert attended, every donation and every word shared with a friend helps keep live music thriving in our community.

A very special thank you to our wonderful Volunteer Coordinator, Dianne Hall, and her incredible team of volunteers. Their generosity, enthusiasm and countless hours behind the scenes are an essential part of everything we do.

Paul Shelestowsky, Chair, Music Niagara’s Board of Directors, Atis Bankas, Artistic Director, and Karen Lade, General Manager, extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make our 28th Season such a success.

To our government funders, sponsors, donors, venue partners, volunteers, longtime supporters and first-time audience members, thank you for believing in Music Niagara and for helping us bring exceptional live music, meaningful community experiences and opportunities for young artists to Niagara-on-the-Lake.

We are deeply grateful for your continued support and for being part of the Music Niagara community.

And the music is not over yet!

On November 1, join us at 5:00 PM at Queen’s Landing for the 2nd Annual Arts Unbound — Celebrating Arts & Culture Beyond Limits, an inspiring evening of storytelling and live performance celebrating artists living with disabilities. After the performance, continue the evening with dinner at Queen’s Landing at 7:00 PM and make a night of it. Tickets and information: https://www.showpass.com/artsunbound/

On November 11, we will once again come together for our traditional Remembrance Day concert following the ceremony in Niagara-on-the-Lake, in support of the Last Post Fund.

And this winter, we are thrilled to introduce a brand-new Winter Wine & Music Series — four back-to-back evenings of exceptional music, Niagara wine and winter hospitality in Niagara-on-the-Lake, brought to you by and in support of Tourism Niagara-on-the-Lake. Stay tuned as we reveal the artists, venues and full details for this exciting new winter experience.

Thank you for an unforgettable summer, for supporting live music and for being part of the Music Niagara family. We cannot wait to welcome you back.
