Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was born 265 years ago today, on January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. He is recognized throughout the world as one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music. Unlike any other composer, he wrote in all the musical genres of his day, excelling in every one. His taste, his command of form and his range of expression have made him seem the most universal of all composers, even though his music was written to accommodate the specific tastes of particular audiences. Truly ‘beloved of God,’ his compositions seem to flow directly from divine inspiration onto the written score where they remain to this day with all their emotive power and exquisite musicality.
We are presenting a short preview on January 27th of a concert, whose full production has been delayed by the current state of emergency. Please join us online to watch this preview featuring Elina Kelebeev (piano), Tanya Charles-Iveniuk (violin), Caitlin Boyle (viola), Jonathan Tortolano (cello), and Atis Bankas (violin). It’s a sample of a performance we had planned of Mozart’s Adagio in E major for violin, K. 261, his Piano Quartet K. 478 in G minor and the Piano Concerto K. 467 No. 21 in C major at Mount Carmel Monastery in Niagara Falls.
