Judy Garland; Lucille Ball; Bette Davis; Betty Hutton. Trailblazers refusing to be “just another ingénue” during Hollywood’s Golden Age. They each broke the mold by taking the Hollywood studio system to task, fighting for the roles that made them famous, and opening doors that had previously been firmly shut for women in the film industry. Join Rebecca Perry as she weaves together scandalous headlines, iconic songs and comedy gold, journeying musically through the groundbreaking careers of the screen legends of yesteryear.

From Judy to Bette has been performed around Canada and from top to bottom of England and Scotland. After a series of highly successful performances and runs, including three weeks at the prestigious Gilded Balloon at the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and a full run as part of the Sudbury Theatre Centre’s season in February 2020, the show went digital with a bang, with Perry performing a one-off, fireside live-stream just two weeks into the initial pandemic lockdown, earning the show the 2020 Broadway World Toronto award for Best Streaming Production – her eleventh Broadway World award nomination, and fourth win.

Written and performed by Toronto’s Rebecca Perry, following the international success of her two award-winning Redheaded Coffeeshop Girl shows, From Judy to Bette sees her turn to the incredible characters from history who inspired her to take to the stage and turn her love of musical theatre into a careet, bringing these powerful women – each an icon and a household name – to the stage once more.

Perry has taken her shows from coast to coast in Canada, to every corner of the United Kingdom, and into Europe and the US. She has tours under discussion back to the UK and Europe, and to Australia and New Zealand once international lockdowns have lifted. Her works have had celebrity attendance, and received five-star reviews, audience acclaim and awards wherever they have gone. She has performed in many theatre shows in Toronto throughout her career, has also brought her talents to the screen both in acting and voice-over for films, TV series and webseries, including Forest Fairies (alongside Simon Callow), Best Friend from Heaven (alongside Kris Kristoffersen) and four-time Canadian Comedy Award-winning series A Gay Victorian Affair. Catch her this Christmas in the third instalment in the Christmas with a Prince film series, The Royal Baby.
